North Campground, Bryce Canyon NP

Oct 15 to Oct 16, 2017

Happy Bday Joyce. Beautiful drive over the mountains to Bryce.  Part of me wanted some mountain time – but we can’t do everything and Bryce was amazing.

The first afternoon we hiked Queens Garden and the Navajo trail.   Had to hike the Queen’s Garden for Joyce, since the birthday girl was Queen for the day.  Nice garden.

We started at Sunrise Pt, hiked Queens Garden and then came up Navajo Loop to Sunset Point. This included an impressive set of switch backs up Wall Street.

So much fun hiking the HooDoos.

Heading to the Queens Garden.  See the “secret” door.

Heading up wall street.  It would have been tricky without the switch backs.

Posing at Sunset Point.

I think the bday girl enjoyed her day.

Sunset Point. The sun made the hoodoos look like they were on fire.

Plenty of room in the North Campground.

Everyone travels with a chainsaw don’t they? Sure was handy when Rick found some long logs. Plenty of firewood for a bday bonfire.

Lots of room in the CG when we got there, it filled up the next day.  Level 3 camping – we even got the hammock out.

Joyce’s bday celebration. Bday dinner of pork chops, potatoes, peas and crisp. The crisp had some hand picked Fruita apples in it.

Day 2 Rick and I road out the scenic road to Rainbow Point. 35 plus miles and 2,200 ft climbing, for me. Rick had higher stats since he threw in some side trips. Good shoulder and traffic not too bad.  Scott and Joyce hiked the Peek-a-boo Trail.   Note to self:  Peek-a-boo trail was great but they thought the Fairyland Trail they hiked last visit was even better.

We played a few rousing games of “Barrel of Monkeys”.  Scott and Joyce had to practice so Seva didn’t trounce them.  I think it will be a stiff competition.
