Boondocking along Hole in the Rock Road, Escalante, UT

Oct 14, 2017

Rick jumped on his gravel grinder and road from our campsite to Lower Calf Creek Trailhead.  He had some spectacular scenery – including the Hog Back – where the highway travels along a narrow ridge and some windy conditions.  I was driving so was too busy hanging on to do much gawking.  We meet rick at Lower Calf Creek Trailhead and had a nice hike.

Our trail to a nice waterfall. The waterfall even had water! Not always the case in these parts.

I didn’t notice the rock in the way – but decided to call it artsy.

After the hike it was onto Escalante for groceries, beer and showers.  Then – washboard city on Hole in the Rock Road.  Rattled a bit longer than we needed.  Finally turned around and found a campsite near where the Hole in the Rock leaves Hwy 12.  The excitement isn’t over yet – Scott’s RV isn’t quite as jeep like as he thought.
