After soaking we moved about 3 miles to Cedar Glades County Park. It’s free, we are right next to the single track trails and a “real” bathroom. No showers and no potable water – but there is a bike maintenance and cleaning station. What’s not to like.
We ride some great trails. About 10 miles of mostly flowy single track with tight switchbacks and a few creek crossings. There are three loops, Green, Bue and Black through Pines, Oaks and a dogwood understory. They are all mostly ridable. Some short steep hills and tight switchbacks added challenge. The black was not your typical black diamond trail. We didn’t try the new trails at the far end which appear to be more difficult -steep and rocky. We talked to a women who highly recommended the trails Relaxing afternoon in the sun with lots of families enjoying the park. This park has disc golf, radio controlled airfield and race car track, playground in addition to great trails. Not at all crowded for a sunny weekend. Camp shower worked great.
We got in another ride, this Easter Sunday, before we pulled out. Rick added the new connector trails “and “Zig zag”. They lead to the North Woods trails which are rumored to be smooth and flowy. Rick found the “End of the Rainbow” mostly unridable with big exposure, rocks and tight switchbacks. He returned up Zigzag which is a climb, but ridable.
I’m loving all the wildflowers. Now I just need to learn their names.
